#45friday ("Cramp Your Style", 1972)

This week's RIDDIM & GROOVE classic cut is "Cramp Your Style" by All The People (Blue Candle, 1972). This heavy funk tune is outstanding in two ways: First it opens up with one of the most definite classic breakbeats which can be considered an integral part of the musical bboy curriculum. Secondly, "Cramp Your Style" features soulful vocals by Robert Moore, the Jacksonville, FL native who was sometimes also called the "Little James Brown". The track was released on the mostly-45 label Blue Candle, which was in fact a subsidiary of Hialeah's T.K. Records. Later on, Moore became the label's lead singer and was thus also part of it's house band "Miami". Check out this RIDDIM & GROOVE classic and enjoy the start into the weekend.
